As I recall, the original RN Spey-engined Phantoms were 'K's.


As a result of increased responsibilities after the Falklands war, a couple
of squadrons of 'J's were purchased for the RAF, to make up the numbers.

The RAF and RN Phantoms had larger intakes to cope with the increased
airflow of the Spey turbofans.
Looking at the picture I would say it is a J model.

I think the slick radome birds are the best looking Phantoms. The
early D's we had at Hahn had the slick radome in the late 1960's.....
